Historic Racine - Lovely Retreat Home - 3B/1.5B
About
Amazing, authentic, TRUE historic home, built all the way back in 1858! Meticulously maintained and updated over the years while taking care to stay faithful to the original character, this house is a feature on the City of Racine's "Tour of Historic Places". The home features original brick and woodwork, a two story sunroom addition from the 1920's, and a fully fenced backyard with grill, patio, garden and seating. Privacy for the adults to chat; space for the kids and/or dog to roam free!
Good to know
The entire home will be open to you and just you! Large formal dining room, fully stocked kitchen, leather couches in the living room and TV area, and the beds are actually better than what's pictured now as we recently updated them. The master is now a king, with a twin tucked into a side cutout, and the second bedroom no longer has the bunks, it now has a queen and a twin. There is a couch and three very large live palms in the 2-story sunroom, plus doors so you can close it off to the rest of the house - maybe sneak in a little alone relaxation time? Most common feedback we receive is that our home is: - very kid and pet friendly (plenty of toys, plus other kid items available like changing table, games, books, high chair converter to strap on pull-out baby gate at top of stairs, pack-n-play with sheets, etc) and dogs love the fenced in yard. - uniquely historic with charm and character! People consider the 1890s historic, we've got 40 years on them! Out of the ordinary, not just another regular "generic" house! Interesting, fun to look around, interesting artifacts from the history of the house out for viewing. - comfortable and relaxing, we go out of our way to make sure you have what you need. More intangible though, is the cozy and friendly VIBE, which is impossible to precisely translate with words. We also clean and sanitize with environmentally-friendly products. Linens and towels are all laundered with free and clear detergent. Available in the house not already mentioned: Hair dryer Iron and ironing board Fans and space heaters for bedrooms Coffee maker Coffee Fully stocked kitchen (utensils, pots and pans, spices and oils, etc) Crock pot Shampoo, Conditioner, body wash Child’s high chair (booster style with belt) Beach toys Beach blanket, cooler bag and beach towels Air purifier Free off street parking in driveway Lots of extra blankets and pillows Plenty more, ask for what you might need! The house is in walking distance to lake and shops. North Beach and Zoo beach are the prime spots for swimming, just two-miles away. Happy to give you great recommendations for local restaurants in Racine or our favorites in Milwaukee, 35 minutes away. We live a few blocks away and this was our family home for several years. We loved it too much to sell it, so here it is on Airbnb instead!
Other Details to Note
Full bath is located on second floor, half bath on first floor through the bedroom. 2 beds that sleep three downstairs, 4 beds that sleep 6 upstairs. Front door and backyard security camera for safety. Important: we do not allow smoking of any kind in the house. If we suspect smoking in the house you will be asked to leave. If the house smells of smoke when you leave, you will be charged for the remediation. It is quite an ordeal to wash every piece of fabric in the house, get all the carpets cleaned, etc and we simply cannot have it happen. We live nearby and keep a close connection to the neighbors. We do not allow parties beyond the total guest limit or additional guests coming and going from the house. Of course there could be special exceptions with limited guests visiting if given permission in advance, however. Thank you for being respectful.

Neighborhood
Racine is a diverse city and our neighborhood is no exception. If diverse neighborhoods are not what you’re used to and you have questions, message us directly. We have a kids park two blocks away. The lakefront is 5 blocks away and a great place to run/bike/stroll. The library, post office, and downtown shops/restaurants are also walking distance. We have lived in the city 10 years and can hook you up with just about any recommendation you might need.
